The Maghrjaan was initiated more than 10 years ago to cook food on the eve of Eid (Ou Labarang aand) in response to need of ensuring that our less fortunate brothers and sisters have a hot meal on the day of Eid.
Last year we had 28 teams cooking 47 x 100 litre pots of akni at the Boorhaanol Centre. The food reached the needy via mosques and community organisations across Cape Town from as far afield as Chatsworth to Faure Kramat, Tafelsig, Gugulethu, Manenberg, Bishop Lavis, Elsies River, Kalksteenfontein, Langa, Factreton, Vygieskraal, Woodstock and Bo-Kaap.

This year, in compliance with the lockdown restrictions, we have made arrangements to still cook 47 pots, but using a reduced number of teams who will be cooking from their homes, Insha-Allah.
The funding of the Maghrajaan programme relies entirely on donations.
